The KDS Adopt a Sanctuary Animal programme is built around a community of compassionate supporters whose monthly or annual commitment provides the necessary support to care for a rescued animal currently in our care and to enable us to continue with the Karoo Donkey Sanctuary’s lifesaving rescue, education, and advocacy work.

Each rescued animal in our Adoption Programme is a survivor with a unique personality and with a very unique and often very sad story. But the good news is that they are now living their best lives surrounded by love and TLC. Click on the animal you fall in love with to learn more and to become their monthly sponsor!
As a Adopt a Sanctuary Animal parent, you’ll receive a digital certificate (and an optional printed certificate) featuring your special animal friend along with quarterly updates from our communications team on their wellbeing. Your donation also includes KDS membership and a subscription to Sanctuary Life, our monthly newsletter.
Sponsoring a KDS resident for a friend or family member is also a unique way to spread compassion and awareness with loved ones. Just enter the Name and respective additional information for your gift recipient, and we’ll take care of the rest! Your gift recipient will receive the adoption certificate and a free subscription to Sanctuary Life.

You can adopt one of our rescues as a gift for someone else - simply let us know the recipient's details and we will get everything done in their name.
FAQs
Because the animals at KDS have been rescued from situations of cruelty, abuse, and neglect, many of them have special care needs, including costly veterinary expenses. Since it is often too costly for one person to fund the care of a special needs animal, we must provide for many of these needy individuals with the help of multiple generous sponsors like you. As a sponsor, your contribution not only provides for your adopted friend but it also goes into a general fund that works to protect all the animals through KDS’s rescue, education, and advocacy efforts. The more sponsors we have, the more animals we can commit to caring for
We ask that you sign up for an automatic payment program. Your sponsorship donations can come directly out of your checking or savings
account, or be charged to a debit or credit card. Automatic contribution programs are a convenient way to ensure the ongoing daily care of our shelter animals. They also cut down on administrative costs, which means that your contribution goes that much further to help the animals!
