Meisie

Our special Meisie was used as a ‘guardian donkey’ to protect a huge flock of sheep at a stock farm in the Karoo district of South Africa. She was left to her own devices out in the open veldt with inadequate food and no shelter or farrier care. Our Meisie was a COVID rescue. COVID was, needless to say, an incredibly tough time for us but we pushed through. Meisie desperately needed help and we were there for her. Meisie had developed severe slipper feet that had essentially crippled her. She had a horrible abscess in her back hoof and she developed severe pneumonia shortly after her rescue. Meisie is a true fighter and doesn’t let anything get in her way. Due to years of neglect of her feet, while she walks on her heels, she gets around just fine and she loves her life of retirement. Meisie is a permanent member of our Special Needs Unit and she would love assistance towards her ongoing hoof care, her feed supplements as well as her lucern concentrates and extra roughage.
