a true Garden of Eden

Wild Plettenberg Bay

Plettenberg Bay’s magnificent natural habitat offer visitors to the area truly spectacular and diverse nature experiences with the region encompassing no less than 5 unique biospheres of forests, fynbos, wetlands, mountains and the coastal region; each with its own abundant flora and fauna

Experience the rainforest

At our wonderful new facility in The Crags, we are blessed to have our very own biome of indigenous rainforest on the property that is grander than any cathedral. Ancient Outeniqua yellowwoods, true forest giants reaching over 50m in height along with magical ironwood and stinkwood trees vie for light in the leafy canopy. The forest also harbours many species of ferns including the seven-week fern, prolific in the Tsitsikamma region. Colourful lichens and moss can be seen smiling southwards on the moist rocks and tree trunks along with many species of mushrooms and ornamental fungi found in a profusion of shapes and colors

A paradise at one with the birds and the bees

A magnificent variety of indigenous mammals may also be spotted on our forest trails including the bushpig, dassie, caracal, genet, chacma baboon, vervet monkey, blue duiker, bushbuck, grysbok, mongoose and the Cape clawless otter. The elusive dwarf chameleon, amongst many other reptile species also call our rainforest home as does a plethora of rare and unique insects including the humble silver-spotted caterpillar. And with in excess of 300 species of birds having been sighted in our area including the Knysna Turaco, Narina Trogan, the African Black Oystercatcher and the Orange-breasted sunbird; with the melodic coo of the resident turtle doves, all make for a true, bucket list forest experience
