Nelson

 Our beautiful Nelson joined us in August 2022 after his former custodian (who had rescued him) could no longer care for him. Nelson is named after the great Nelson Mandela, our South African Icon. The poor boy endured a life of hardship and abuse in rural Vryburg in the North West Province of South Africa where he was used as a carthorse. He has significant scarring on his back and hindquarters from having been repeatedly whipped and beaten. Nelson loves his food and apples and he also receives supplementary hay and lucern. We are hoping to be in a position to begin laser treatments on his old wounds and his virtual adoption would help him greatly towards this objective.
